September 19, 2009 was a very tragic day for the Wolf Mountain Pack. Sedona crossed the Rainbow Bridge to join the Sky People and Apache Moon, Niosha, Gabrielle and Sweet Cheyenne and all the other precious animals. Sedona will never be held captive again, he is running free whole and healthy waiting for us all to be with him someday. Sedona had a cist on his elbow that was scheduled to be removed next week. He either bit this cist or leaned on it to hard and it ruptured. Evidently there were many veins and arteries in it and he hemorrhaged. Vet techs were on site (Ginger and Rose) and the bleeding seemed to be under control but it was bleeding inside his leg and swelling it up. Sedona was sedated after we received some medication so that he could be transported to the emergency hospital. When staff tried to move Sedona, he fought hard even though he was sedated, he did not want to leave WMS. He was muzzled but broke the muzzle and got Bob pretty good, but with the help of Rose, Ginger, Stephanie, John and Tonya they got him loaded into the truck. During the drive up Sedona turned around so when the emergency staff at the hospital went to unload him, he was not very happy and made it very difficult to get him out of the truck. They finally did get him into surgery and his blood levels were very low but he was still alive. His heart stopped once but they resuscitated him. They discovered that he had severe cancer inside his body when they were trying to stop the bleeding. When Tonya saw this she told them not to resuscitate him again. Sedona stopped breathing and they called the time of passing but his heart pumped for 30 minutes longer. He did not want to go..... I am in tears as I write this as everyone is at the Sanctuary. Sedona was loved by all of us more then you can imagine. His ferocious growls and barks as well as his sweet song will be missed by all who crossed his path and had the sweet pleasure of knowing this noble wolf. Sedona was an Alpha and Mireya was his mate. Durango was his brother by blood and all the wolves at the sanctuary were his pack mates. Please send everyone at WMS your prayers and love at this tragic time. There will be a celebration of his life sometime soon, we will post this information when we decide upon a date.
